The e-Government National Awards 2008 recognise and praise the best in public sector ICT & e-Government - across local / central government, non-departmental public bodies, non-governmental organisations and other deliverers of e-government services.

Make your nominations online via this website, from 9am on 1st July till 5pm, 1st October. Judging takes place in October and early November, and the Awards will be presented at a glittering black-tie dinner attended by 500 of this year's "best of the best" on 20th January 2009 in London.

Tom Watson MP, Cabinet Office Minister with responsibility for Transformational Government says:
"Public services continue to be transformed by technology, improving delivery on the front line and making us more efficient behind the scenes. Unfortunately some people seem to take pleasure in knocking public sector projects that involve technology, which is why I'd encourage anyone with a success story to share it with the wider world by entering these awards. I know the nominations will all be of the highest standard, so I'm really looking forward to seeing all the winners in January."

Keith Bannister, Head of IT Advisory, KPMG, says: "KPMG is proud to be lead sponsor of the awards for the fourth year running, for us this is a way of recognising and celebrating all the good work that’s been done. I have no doubt that the standard of entries will once again be high and judging will be difficult.

"We believe that e-government has helped to transform public services in this country, it has made them more open, more accessible and more efficient. A key theme of this year's Awards are Government services which help build a fairer, more inclusive society. E-Government gives all citizens and businesses the opportunity to interact directly with services and government which is why we think e-Government is helping to build a fairer society."

John Suffolk, Government Chief Information Officer at the Cabinet Office, says: “In my role, I get to see how technology is being used in innovative ways to transform public services – be it a small project that is helping a local community or a large scale project that is benefiting millions of people across the country. We need to get better at sharing and learning from our successes.
The e-Government National Awards give us an excellent opportunity to do this, so I would encourage you to submit your nominations.”
